Job Summary

The Primary Care Careers team is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our front-of-house team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients, answering phone calls, and responding to queries in a polite and professional manner.
  • Manage appointment bookings, ensuring seamless communication between patients, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff.
  • Process prescriptions, letters, and other documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Deal with patient requests, complaints, and concerns in a empathetic and confidential manner.
  • Support the on-duty team, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Contribute to maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • Ability to work in a confidential and discreet manner, respecting patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations.
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to think on your feet.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.

Desirable

  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
