Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Practitioner to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust as a GP Specialist in Custodial Care.

About the Role

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing medical leadership and expert advice on primary care issues to the wider healthcare team, while also responding to medical problems presented by patients residing within HMP Wymott and HMP Garth.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Work: Respond to medical problems presented by patients residing within the custodial environment, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate.
  2. Leadership and Expertise: Provide medical leadership and expert advice regarding medical and primary care issues to the wider healthcare team.
  3. Risk Management: Undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies to mitigate risks.
  4. Liaison and Communication: Advise operational NHS staff on medical matters and liaise with them to communicate medical priorities to HMPPS staff when necessary.

Salary and Benefits: The salary for this role is approximately £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
