Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Physiologist to lead our Echocardiography service. As a key member of our Cardiology team, you will be responsible for supporting the continued growth and development of our echocardiography and pacing service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Echocardiography service, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient service delivery.
  • Support the Cardiology department in other cardiac investigations, including performing resting Transthoracic Echo, Exercise stress and Dobutamine Stress echo, bubble and contrast echo, 12 Lead ECGs, Holter Monitoring and Analysis, Event Monitoring, Blood pressure Monitoring, Exercise Testing, routine pacemaker checks.
  • Independently write clinical reports for transthoracic echocardiography to a BSE standard, and provide physiologist clinical reports following holter and ETT analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Cardiology team to develop and implement policies and protocols within the department of cardiology and in Echo-related policies.
  • Participate in research and clinical audit in conjunction with the physicians and manager.
  • Assist the Cardiologist in theatres with DC cardioversions.
Requirements
  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent.
  • ILS or BLS.
  • RCCP registration (desirable).
  • BSE or equivalent.
  • Experience as an independent practitioner in cardiology investigations.
  • Experience of assisting in Pacemaker and Implantable Loop recorder implantation (desirable).
  • The use of Medtronic, Boston Scientific and St Jude Pacemaker programmers (desirable).
  • Able to independently perform and report Adult Transthoracic Echocardiograms (essential).
  • Experience in assisting with/performing Exercise and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms and bubble and contrast echocardiograms.
  • 24-hour Holter analysis.
  • Able to perform a wide range of non-invasive investigations independently.
  • Understanding of cardiac procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Leadership skills.
