About the RoleThis is an exceptional opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Head of School for General Practice. Reporting to the Primary Care Dean, you will be responsible for leading and developing the Postgraduate School of General Practice in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The role involves line managing Associate Postgraduate Deans and focusing on improvement of learner supervision, support, assessment, and experience.
You will contribute to the vision of the local NHS, enhancing patient care by providing leadership and direction with respect to the quality of education and training. This includes liaising with the Foundation School, overseeing recruitment of GP placements, and supporting the Foundation School.
Main Responsibilities- Provide strategic oversight, leadership, innovation, and improvement of activities related to the education and training of the Primary Care workforce.
- Ensure educational governance with respect to the quality of clinical learning placements.
- Assure the quality of supervision of learners provided by multi-professional supervisors and the quality assurance of their training.
- Ensure all learners achieve the required levels of excellence.
- Oversight of nationally coordinated NHSE workforce, education, and training programs.

We welcome applications from individuals with experience working with learners or doctors in training, clinical and educational leadership, and management of multi-professional teams. A strong understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters and previous appointment as a leader in healthcare education are also essential.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the NHS, its structures, and processes, including an understanding of healthcare policy. Additionally, they should have awareness of funding streams for healthcare education and current health, social care, and education policy.
