About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on leader to oversee the contract workforce at a busy manufacturing site in Carlisle. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working with people to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the workforce: Oversee temporary workers on-site, ensuring they work effectively, adhere to health and safety guidelines, and stay motivated.
  • Coordinating with the team: Assist factory management in determining staffing needs and ensuring timely recruitment campaign delivery.
  • Project management: Ultimate responsibility for the recruitment plan and end-to-end process, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring performance: Track attendance, work quality, and productivity, addressing issues and helping workers succeed.
  • Ensuring compliance: Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Problem-solving: Address issues quickly, whether staffing gaps or performance concerns, to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Maintaining relationships: Build strong relationships with workers and factory teams, serving as a key point of contact for concerns or questions.
Job Description:

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the labour operations team, overseeing the recruitment and deployment of temporary workers. You will work closely with factory management to determine staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.

Requirements:
  • Experience managing temporary or contract workers: Ideal background in manufacturing, especially food production, with knowledge of fluctuating workforces.
  • Strong communication skills: Effective liaison with various stakeholders, requiring clear communication and good working relationships.
  • Problem-solver: Ability to think on your feet and find solutions to operational challenges.
  • Organised and efficient: Detail-oriented and able to manage scheduling, attendance, and paperwork efficiently.
  • Health and safety know-how: Understanding of safe work environments and relevant regulations.
  • Proactive attitude: Hands-on, able to handle pressure, and willing to get involved when needed.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to meet site demands, including potential night shifts to maintain relationships.
