Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Healthcare Assistant to join our multidisciplinary community-based team in Derbyshire and South Staffordshire. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing holistic, person-centered care to patients and their loved ones, supporting them to live their lives to the fullest.

Main Responsibilities

  • Hold person-centered conversations and practice empathetic communication with patients and their families.
  • Provide high-quality personal care and support to enhance wellbeing.
  • Plan and prioritize care needs, responding to changes in patient condition and escalating appropriately.

About the Role

This is a bank role, working on an as-and-when basis, with night shifts. You must live at an easy commutable distance to Derbyshire and South Staffordshire.

Requirements

  • National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care or an acceptable alternative qualification.
  • A minimum of six months of recent care delivery experience in a Health or Social Care Environment providing care and caring for dying patients.
  • Be person-centered and compassionate when caring for patients and their families.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans alongside other healthcare professionals.
  • Thorough understanding of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains of palliative care.
  • Proven understanding of the barriers and enablers to good communication and how challenges can be overcome.
