About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic to join our team as a Sexual Offence Examiner in Derby. This is a unique opportunity to work in a growing and innovative service provider within Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC).

As a Sexual Offence Examiner, you will play a critical role in providing victims of sexual assault with dedicated support and care. You will receive full training and support to become a qualified Forensic Practitioner, with further opportunities to undertake additional higher education after one year in-post.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic examinations and obtain forensic exhibits.
  • Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
  • Work in partnership with external Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and Police.
  • Act as the first point of contact for victims, Police, and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
  • Manage and promote the self-referral pathway.
  • Undertake holistic assessments, including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Produce individual management plans.
  • Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
  • Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
  • Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Qualified Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic.
  • A minimum of 3 years + relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Experience of autonomous working.
  • Due to the nature of the role, applications are invited from females only. This post has a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act, Section 7(2)b and 7(2)e.
  • A UK driving license and access to a vehicle are required for this role, as additional travel may be necessary across SARC's.
  • Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required.
