About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled individual to join our team as a Sexual Offence Examiner in Derby. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing victims of sexual assault with dedicated support and care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing, midwifery, or paramedicine, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant field. You will be responsible for conducting forensic examinations, obtaining forensic exhibits, and working in partnership with external multidisciplinary teams and police.

As a Sexual Offence Examiner, you will receive full training and support to become a qualified Forensic Practitioner, with opportunities for further education and professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic examinations and obtain forensic exhibits
  • Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines
  • Work in partnership with external MDTs and police
  • Manage and promote the self-referral pathway
  • Undertake holistic assessments, including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding
  • Produce individual management plans
  • Support the continued quality improvement of the service
  • Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements
  • Obtain consent for health and forensic procedures
Essential Skills
  • Qualified Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Experience of autonomous working
  • UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Advanced DBS and level 2 police vetting
