Lead Psychiatric Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Inpatient team at the Moorside Unit in Trafford, South Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional to provide high-quality patient-centered care, lead multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development of innovative services.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert leadership in Medical Decision-Making Teams (MDTs)
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop personalized treatment plans for patients on the ward
- Support and guide ward staff in managing psychiatric emergencies
- Facilitate patient reviews, Multidisciplinary Ward Reviews, CPA Reviews, and multi-professional meetings
- Act as the responsible clinician for Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) purposes, adhering to the code of practice
- Renew and maintain Responsible Clinician status according to agreed procedures
- Perform comprehensive Risk Assessments and participate in Trust risk management processes
- Offer medical guidance to the inpatient ward team
- Maintain effective communication and work collaboratively with other service areas, including wards, community mental health teams, services, and primary care
- Liaise with families and carers
- Prepare reports for Mental Health Tribunals with support from the Staff Grade doctor
- Attend Mental Health Tribunals or supervise medical team members in Tribunal work; assess Mental Health Act usage, complete consent to treatment, and authorize Section 17 leave
