Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to patients on Medlock ward.

About the Role
  • Provide medical leadership for multi-disciplinary team meetings and be responsible for the care of 15 patients on Medlock ward, a 21-bedded all-female acute assessment ward.
  • Work collaboratively with a ward Associate Specialty doctor and take an active role in developing the service in line with trauma-informed care.
  • Maintain a high level of effective communication and work flexibly and cooperatively with other parts of the service, including community mental health teams and primary care.
Main Duties
  1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and participate in the trust's risk management processes.
  2. Provide medical leadership to the inpatient ward team and complete reports for Mental Health Tribunals.
  3. Assess for use of the Mental Health Act, complete consent to treatment, and authorize Section 17 leave.
Requirements
  • You will need to have a medical degree and be registered with the GMC as a specialist psychiatrist.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists is desirable.
