Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Barnsley, working with children who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal care: Assist with daily living tasks, such as hygiene, toileting, and dressing.
  • Feeding tubes: Support children with feeding tubes, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
  • Moving and handling: Safely assist with the physical movement of children, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Classroom support: Aid in the delivery of tailored educational activities and support the teacher in managing the classroom environment.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication using various methods, including sign language, communication boards, and other assistive technologies.
  • Emotional support: Provide emotional and social support to children, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Health and safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with PMLD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring nature.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are desirable but not essential.
