Job Title: Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School Support

About the Role: Shape A Life is supporting a primary school in need of a graduate teaching assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN). As a SEN teaching assistant, you will work closely with the class teachers and school SENCo to provide practical and learning support to the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group pupil support under direct supervision of teaching staff.
  • Support independent learning and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Promote positive values, attitudes, and good pupil behaviour.
  • Support the teacher with managing behaviour and keeping pupils on task.
  • Assist in the planning and learning activities.
  • Occasionally supervise the class for a brief period where a teacher is not available.
  • Promote and reinforce the inclusion, acceptance, and integration of all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Passion and enthusiasm to shape the next generation.
  • An interest in primary school education.
  • Degree (2:2 or above) in any subject.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to pupils and adults.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work as part of a team.
