Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Recruitment Education Global Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to access the curriculum and achieve their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Student Support: Provide tailored support to students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional/behavioural challenges.
  • Lesson Delivery: Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons and activities that meet the individual needs of students.
  • Social, Emotional, and Academic Development: Support students with their social, emotional, and academic development, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Help implement IEPs and behaviour management strategies.
  • Learning Reinforcement: Work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce learning and assist in meeting educational goals.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure students' needs are met effectively.
  • Personal Care and Physical Needs: Assist with personal care and physical needs where required, promoting independence and self-care skills.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • SEN Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or care setting is preferred but not necessary.
  • Relevant Qualification: A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • SEN and Safeguarding Knowledge: Knowledge of SEN and safeguarding policies and practices.
  • Patience and Empathy: Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude towards working with children.
  • Communication and Teamwork Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to the changing needs of students.
