Weybridge, Surrey, United Kingdom Michael Page Full time
About Our Client

Michael Page is representing a global leader in the battery and energy storage sector, currently in search of a Lead Procurement Specialist focused on the strategic sourcing of Raw Materials essential for Battery and Energy Storage solutions.

Role Overview

In the capacity of Lead Procurement Specialist, you will be tasked with formulating and executing the Raw Materials strategy that is vital for the company's future in Battery and Energy Storage technologies.

You will establish all necessary agreements (including offtake contracts and investment partnerships) that align with the strategic vision across various global markets and throughout the entire supply chain, from resource extraction to the final battery or storage systems.

Reporting directly to the leader of Battery and Energy Storage and collaborating closely with a commodity expert, you will work in conjunction with teams from Business Development, technical departments, and finance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting the company's strategies for all raw materials (such as Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese, Graphite, and Hydrogen) while engaging with relevant internal stakeholders (including Business Development and technical teams).
  • Overseeing both internal and external reporting obligations to ensure alignment with business practices, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Developing a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess, track, and communicate progress.
  • Presenting performance metrics across the organization and to stakeholders regarding all global raw materials within your scope.
  • Ensuring compliance with supplier standards and policies, as well as processes that meet regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations, particularly in relation to Mergers & Acquisitions.
  • Acting as the company representative in working groups and at international conferences and seminars.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business Management, or Finance is required.
  • Raw Materials Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of the entire value chain for raw materials utilized in energy storage, particularly in batteries and hydrogen, is essential. You should be knowledgeable about all stages from extraction and refining to processing and trading.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices is crucial. You should be capable of discussing both technical and financial aspects with confidence, demonstrating a clear understanding of market dynamics.
  • Proven Experience: A minimum of 10 years in the field, with a robust network of industry contacts, is preferred. Experience across diverse sectors such as mining, refining, trading, and banking is advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing and critically assessing reports from subcontractors and raw material suppliers is necessary. You should also excel in producing clear and concise reports based on your data analysis.

Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position.

We seek a self-driven, dynamic, and proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative setting. Exceptional communication skills are essential for effective interaction across all organizational levels. Your ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights for decision-making is highly valued.

You should be comfortable presenting information to a varied audience, including senior management and external partners, and possess the ability to simplify complex topics for better understanding.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including proficiency in tools like PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations.
