About the Role:

Nationwide Building Society is seeking an experienced Database Systems Lead to join our IT Support team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing our existing database systems, as well as shaping our team's strategy and direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and contributing to all aspects of database administration, including patching, backups, support, and performance tuning.
  • Mentoring and developing the skills of junior technical staff with a view to shifting 2nd line support to our 24x7 operations team.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call support rota.
  • Troubleshooting using Windows event logs, SQL logs, and cluster logs.
  • Supporting Windows AG and FCI clustering, as well as database audit and security processes.
  • Working within an ITIL framework and reviewing and approving SQL design documentation.
  • Experience with SSIS and SSRS is beneficial.

About You:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Database Systems Lead who is comfortable with performance tuning using query plans, indexing, and database design. You should have experience working within an ITIL framework and be skilled in database audit and security processes. Additionally, you should be able to communicate clearly and precisely, using language that is easy to understand.
