About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Systems Analyst to join our IT Support team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing our existing database systems, as well as shaping our team's strategy and direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level support for our production database platforms, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
  • Develop and improve processes to drive service improvement and ensure high-quality database administration.
  • Lead and contribute to all aspects of database administration, including patching, backups, support, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with application engineers to provide proactive improvement suggestions and mentor junior technical staff.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call support rota to ensure 24/7 coverage.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years' experience of enterprise production MSSQL support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot using Windows event logs, SQL logs, and cluster logs.
  • Windows AG and FCI clustering support and troubleshooting experience.
  • Skilled in Database Audit and Security Processes.
  • Experience of working within an ITIL framework.
  • Comfortable with performance tuning using query plans, indexing, DB design, etc.
  • Experienced in reviewing and approving SQL design documentation.
  • Experience with SSIS and SSRS would be beneficial.
