Senior Mental Health Professional

Essex County Council is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mental Health Professional to join their dynamic and supportive Approved Mental Health Service (AMHP) team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality mental health assessments, working collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory agencies to ensure a joined-up approach.

As a Senior Mental Health Professional, you will have significant experience in complex care, with a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance.

You will be passionate about providing expert and effective practice in complex situations, managing workloads, and supporting colleagues with complex cases.

The role involves countywide travel across Essex, with a condensed week (37 hours per week across 4 weekdays) and an expectation to commence your working day from one of the two AMHP Hub offices based in Basildon and Colchester.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and dynamic team, working collaboratively with experienced AMHPs, Deputy Team Managers, and Team Managers to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality mental health assessments
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory agencies
  • Manage workloads and support colleagues with complex cases
  • Travel countywide across Essex

Requirements

  • Qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration
  • Approved Mental Health Professional Mental Health Act 1983 as recognised by ECC
  • Significant experience in complex care
  • Comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance
