Job Opportunity: Assistant General Manager

The Columbo Group is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant General Manager to join our team at The Parakeet, a Public House and Dining Room in Kentish Town. As a key member of our management team, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the pub, ensuring that all aspects of the business run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall management of the pub, including day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.
  • Lead and motivate the team, ensuring high levels of guest service and satisfaction.
  • Manage the bar operations, including stock control, ordering, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Utilize your wine knowledge to curate and manage the wine selection, assist customers with recommendations, and ensure staff are well-trained in this area.
  • Oversee staff training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor, engaging with guests and handling any issues as they arise.
  • Support the General Manager in achieving financial targets and managing budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in bar management and operations, ideally within a pub setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines and the ability to confidently recommend and discuss wine with customers.
  • A passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences for customers.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
