About the Position:
We are looking for a Process Improvement Specialist to become a vital member of our team. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders across various departments to establish a framework for process enhancement and to identify areas for incremental improvements.
The Wholesale division encompasses multiple underwriting sectors, including Marine & Energy, International Casualty, and Professional Financial Risks, along with a highly regarded claims team and strategic business development initiatives. Our global presence includes significant operations in various regions.
The Wholesale operations are evolving, transitioning from traditional processing to a modern operational model designed for scalable growth. The Operations team consists of three main functions: Underwriting Support Services, Governance & Delegated, and Operations Analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Operations Director in executing the Wholesale operations strategy.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and support teams to identify process enhancement opportunities.
- Engage with internal teams and external partners to implement measurable process improvements.
- Develop and monitor operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support the analysis and resolution of business issues within Operations.
- Conduct regular process reviews, updating documentation as necessary and ensuring effective communication across teams.
- Coordinate operational activities for international projects, including operational resilience and enterprise workflow.
- Stay informed about new methodologies and technologies (such as RPA and AI) that enhance process efficiency.
- Participate in industry forums to keep Markel informed about market developments and advocate for necessary changes.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in process improvement.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and energetic approach with self-motivation.
- Experience with systems such as Sequel, Alteryx, and claims management tools is beneficial.
- Background in the insurance sector, particularly within the London Market, is a plus but not mandatory.
