Katherine Monk Ward is a fast-paced and demanding 26-bedded Trauma Ward in Kings College Hospital serving the South East of London. The ward has multiple trauma/surgical specialties and is supported by three other wards and busy outpatient departments.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with a forward-thinking and well-organised approach. They will lead by example, commit to team working, and have the necessary skills to support the team and drive forward.
Key responsibilities include providing clinical leadership to the nursing team, leading and developing the nursing team in the care of trauma, surgical, and orthopaedic patients, and acting as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group.
Main Duties of the Job
- To assume responsibility for the trauma ward and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
- To lead and develop the nursing team in the care of trauma, surgical, and orthopaedic patients and assist in the development of clinical competencies.
- To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both patients and their relatives within the King's College Hospital.
- To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.
- To be an effective clinical leader and role model with good delegation and supervisory abilities.
- To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide patients and relatives with high-quality nursing care.
- To undertake managerial responsibilities ensuring staff management is safe, effective, and within the assigned budget.
- To work alongside the ward consultant and service manager to drive forward quality and excellent patient care.
- To provide leadership and visibility on the ward.
