Clinical Lead Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Nurse to join our day case surgical ward at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will have been working in a similar environment and will be up to date with current practices. Experience should extend to working within a busy ward and professional, multi-disciplinary teams. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work with excellent staff to patient ratios.
- Maintain confidentiality surrounding patient admission and treatment at all times.
- Ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Hospital-approved documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines.
- Have knowledge of and adhere to ward and Hospital policy and professional standards. Ensure team members do likewise.
- Be a clinical expert within the speciality.
- Ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for patients.
- Ensure each patient is assessed, and their care is planned, implemented, and evaluated, and this is accurately documented.
- Ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring, and safe environment for patients and their families.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers, and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.
- Ensure discharge planning is commenced at the point of admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments, as necessary.
- Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care. This includes completion of training and development identified as part of appraisal and personal development (PDP) planning.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager in their absence.
- Act as a role model, supervise, and support the junior nursing team and healthcare assistants.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Current NMC registration in adult or general nursing.
- 2 years post-registration experience in one of the specialties of the ward.
- Experience of shift management and leading a team.
- Evidence of ongoing training and commitment to development.
