In our integrated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, you will have a clear and protected element of professional development. This unique feature allows you to develop a broad range of competence and skill in working with children, young people, and their families experiencing emotional distress and mental ill health.
We prioritize effective service provision to children and young people in Gwent. Our transformation of multi-agency services aims to deliver high-quality care closer to home and hospital care when needed. As a key member of our team, you will be part of a psychologically minded service committed to prudent healthcare.
This role is perfect for mental health professionals seeking to enhance their confidence and competencies in working with children, young people, and families. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, provide consultation, and offer guidance and advice. Our aim is to support the successful applicant to deliver the five functions of Part One of the Mental Health Measure:
- Conducting assessments of mental health need
- Providing brief, evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Offering consultation to professionals working at a 'Tier One' level
- Providing guidance and advice to children, young people, and their families
- Supporting onward referral where necessary
This is a part-time position (30 hours per week) available in our Gwent-Wide location. To apply, you must meet the essential qualifications as defined in the Mental Health (Wales) Measure - Children, Young People and Families PCAMHS Practitioner: Registered Mental Health Nurse/Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities Nurse/Registered Occupational Therapist/Registered Social Worker/Registered Practitioner Psychologist.

Key RequirementsTo succeed in this role, you must possess:
- Legislation and safeguarding knowledge, understanding of CYP presentations
- Clinical assessment and formulation skills, ability to apply psychological approaches, deliver 1:1 and group-based interventions, risk assessment
- Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality
The estimated annual salary for this position is around £38,000-£50,000 depending on experience, with additional benefits including pension scheme, health insurance, and generous leave entitlement.
