The Operational Resilience team at AJ Bell plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of our business services. As an Operational Resilience Analyst, you will work closely with colleagues across the organization to understand our services, their underlying processes, and ensure their dependencies are mapped, regularly tested, and reported appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Establish and maintain effective relationships with Business Service Owners and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with regulatory expectations.
  2. Initiate regular sessions with business subject matter experts to ensure accurate recording of underlying resources, particularly in cases of service changes.
  3. Maintain up-to-date policy, procedure, resilience plans, and other documents as necessary.
  4. Participate in business service reviews with Heads of Department, ensuring that discussions are documented appropriately.
  5. Ensure the timely completion of annual review documents, including in-depth analysis of various data sets.
  6. Work with stakeholders to document and maintain resilience mapping documents.
  7. Assist in the development, design, and delivery of a range of resilience tests, including desktop exercises, data analysis, communication testing, and simulation exercises.
  8. Perform lessons learned analysis following scenario testing, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  9. Assist in the delivery of and documentation of lessons learned exercises following operational disruption.
  10. Produce clear and accurate management information and reporting for a senior-level audience.
  11. Identify vulnerabilities and work with the business to document necessary contingency plans.
  12. Assist with the collation and documentation of Third Party Supplier resilience assurance, including development of management information to show progress.
  13. Participate in group training exercises and awareness activities to ensure operational resilience is embedded in the culture at AJ Bell.
  14. Participate in the Operational Resilience Group, ensuring timely escalation of vulnerabilities.
  15. Keep the Operational Resilience Manager informed on progress and findings from all operational resilience-related activities.

Competence, Knowledge, and Skills

This role suits a person with a strong foundation within the business, ready to progress in a technical specialist role. If you have most of the following experience, we'd like to hear from you:

  1. At least three years' experience in Financial Services or strong experience working on a project, leading a small team, or experience within a risk, compliance, or oversight role.
  2. Ability to quickly review, interpret, and articulate complex processes.
  3. Able to communicate proactively and confidently to influence stakeholders across the business.
  4. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to effectively manage your own time.
  5. Forward thinking and anticipating deadlines without prompting.
  6. Demonstrates excellent listening and questioning skills.
  7. Able to write concisely for a senior-level audience.
  8. Enjoys collaborating with others and working as a team.
  9. Has a strong sense of ownership and seeks out opportunities to self-develop.
  10. Experience of data analysis.
  11. Previous experience of stakeholder management with effective influencing skills.
  12. Has a genuine interest in resilience and strengthening our capabilities and contingency planning.
  13. Experience of presenting to small groups would be an advantage.
  14. Experience of independently coordinating group exercises, tests, or working sessions would be a distinct advantage.
