Job Summary:

As a Commercial Banking Manager at Metro Bank, you will play a key role in driving the future growth of the bank by managing a portfolio of commercial lending customers and developing influential business relationships with key market professionals, clients, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage an active portfolio of commercial banking customers, working closely with business development teams and lending directors to convert leads and grow the bank's customer base.
  • Develop and maintain active and influential business relationships with key market professionals, clients, and customers, representing Metro Bank as an external face to the commercial market.
  • Manage risk, including credit, operational, and regulatory risk, and partner with internal colleagues and stakeholders to deliver required propositions and pricing requirements.
  • Work closely with commercial analysts to provide support with lending fulfillment and be a role model for the regional commercial team and Metro Bank when dealing with customers, intermediaries, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of commercial lending within commercial/corporate banking environments, ideally having worked as a commercial banking manager or equivalent within financial services.
  • Excellent credit application/underwriting skills, with a track record of lending to medium and large SMEs.
  • A track record in successfully building, maintaining, and growing valuable commercial banking relationships and experience converting leads.
  • Ability to promote the Metro Bank story to new customers, creating new fans.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with an ability to interact and influence senior/executive management internally and externally.
  • Extensive knowledge of different industries and sectors and how these perform both financially and structurally, with high levels of experience and intuition in decision making.
  • Experienced in credit writing, financial analysis, and report writing for customers with complex needs.
  • A strong understanding of financial crime, AML, KYC requirements, as well as TCF/conduct expectations and a good working knowledge of risk management.
  • Ideal candidates will have an Associateship of Chartered Institute of Bankers or equivalent, though this is not essential.
