Apprentice Claims Handler

Job Summary
Our client, a leading insurance broker, is seeking an Apprentice Claims Handler to join their growing Claims Division in London. As a trainee, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the claims handling process, from first notification of loss to final settlement and closure of the file.
This role offers exposure to various classes of insurance, including marine and non-marine, as well as the opportunity to work with in-house and external market systems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create new claim records within our internal system.
- Enter and update financial records on relevant systems.
- Support claims brokers in presenting claims to markets.
- Liaise with third-party administrators, adjusters, and lawyers on claims.
- Liaise with colleagues and insurers on claims.
- Attend client and market meetings with brokers, as required.
- Draft and send standard correspondence.
- Draft and send non-standard correspondence, under supervision by a senior colleague.
- Answer the telephone, using your judgment to refer callers to a senior colleague and ensuring accurate recording of information.
- Make written records of all conversations with clients and/or insurers, or other relevant business contacts, in accordance with our procedure manual.
- Arrange for payments or liaise with colleagues to arrange payments, under instruction from senior colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with our systems and procedures, as outlined in our compliance manual.
- Assist the Claims team with various ad-hoc tasks, as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- On-target or completed 3 A-Levels or equivalent (Grade C or above).
- At least 5 GCSES (Grade C or above).
- Strong IT skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to work within a team or individually.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
