Job Summary

MW Appointments is seeking an Apprentice Claims Handler to join their growing Claims Division in London. The purpose of this role is to gain an understanding of how claims are handled from first notification of loss through to final settlement and closure of the file.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create new claim records within internal systems.
  • Create entries and update financial records on relevant systems.
  • Support claims brokers with the presentation of claims to markets.
  • Liaise with third-party administrators, adjusters, and lawyers on claims.
  • Liaise with colleagues and insurers on claims.
  • Attend client and market meetings with brokers, as required.
  • Draft and send standard correspondence.
  • Draft and send non-standard correspondence, under supervision by senior colleagues.
  • Answer the telephone, using own judgment on the referral of callers to a senior colleague and ensuring that information given is accurately recorded.
  • Make written records of all conversations with clients and/or insurers, or other relevant business contacts, in accordance with the firm's procedure manual.
  • Arrange for payments and liaise with colleagues to arrange payments, under instruction from senior colleagues.
  • Ensure that the firm's systems and compliance are always followed, in accordance with the firm's compliance manual.
  • Assist the claims team, as may be required, in effecting various ad-hoc tasks.

Key Skills Required:

  • On-target or completed 3 A-Levels or equivalent (Grade C or above).
  • At least 5 GCSES (Grade C or above).
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work within a team or individually.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
