Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in various community settings. This role requires a registered nurse with experience in public health, able to work independently and as part of a team to promote health and prevent disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients in clinics, homes, and schools, and other community settings
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate care plans, including medication administration and case management
- Participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments
- Use the nursing process to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate outcomes
- Collaborate with other health department agencies and community partners to support public health initiatives
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or a compact state
- BLS certification
- Adherence to all safety policies, including immunizations and driver safety policies
- Ability to function independently, prioritize, and organize work
- Experience in public health nursing or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional study in health promotion or public health
- Experience working with diverse populations and communities
