Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Community Learning Disability Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing a community-based specialist occupational therapy service to adults with learning disabilities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking team that is committed to providing the best care for people with learning disabilities. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, including those with distressed behavior, dual diagnosis, and physical health needs.

You will work closely with other clinicians within the learning disability team, as well as with independent and voluntary sector organizations. Your role will involve assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual and group interventions using evidence-based and client-centered principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, including those with distressed behavior, dual diagnosis, and physical health needs.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions using evidence-based and client-centered principles.
  • Work closely with other clinicians within the learning disability team and with independent and voluntary sector organizations.
  • Provide advice to staff, clients, and carers on clinical interventions, policy, and service development.
  • Supervise and appraise junior staff and occupational therapy students.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid registration with the HCPC.
  • Evidence of ongoing training and development in the theory and practice of Occupational Therapy.
  • At least two years of post-graduate experience in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience of working with adults with complex needs, including those with distressed behavior, dual diagnosis, and physical health needs.
  • Experience of working in a community setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
