Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Occupational Therapist to lead our Major Trauma Occupational Therapy team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality therapeutic care and developing the team's skills and expertise.

Main Duties
  1. Lead and contribute to the development of a comprehensive occupational therapy service in major trauma areas.
  2. Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to the team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and services.
  3. Develop and implement treatment plans, working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  4. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination and discharge planning.
  5. Recruit, supervise, and appraise team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and support to deliver excellent care.
  6. Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with national standards.
  7. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research activities, contributing to the advancement of occupational therapy practice in major trauma.
  8. Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, promoting independence and self-management.
  9. Develop and maintain effective relationships with community services, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care.
  10. Manage and prioritize the team's workload, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective time management.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with:

  • HCPC registration and a degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Extensive experience in major trauma, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality care and services.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of leading teams and developing clinical services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective time management.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
