Job Title: Lead Child Care Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Residential Senior Therapeutic Child Care Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality care is provided in a supportive environment that encourages children to reach their full potential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the overall running of the home and supervise staff providing care for children and young people in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the home operates within National Quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children's Homes, developing a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.
  • Deliver a child-centred and stimulating environment where children can receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care and support, acting as a positive adult role model.
  • SUPPORTING CHILDREN TO ENSURE THEIR HEALTH, MEDICAL, AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS ARE MET.
  • Promote and evidence the children's identity, including religion, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, and linguistic needs, offering alternative forms of communication where possible.
  • Respond to the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate action is taken following internal and external inspections, audits, complaints, and investigations.
  • Take responsibility for professional development and participate in supervision, performance review development, and training events as agreed.
  • Identify and address the needs of diverse groups of children and adults.
  • Ensure practice is carried out in accordance with all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and the policies and procedures of Lancashire's Safeguarding Children's Board.
  • Encourage appropriate behaviour and manage challenging behaviour both within and outside the home.
  • Undertake personal care and moving and handling where required.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Children's Home Support Worker or Children's Home Senior Support Worker, with a caring and empathic nature and ideally gained or currently studying Level 3 or 4 Children's Residential qualification.

Excellent supervisory skills and a passion for caring for and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people are essential. The ability to pass full Ofsted DBS Checks is also required.

Salary: £36,000 - £40,000

Shift pattern: 10 x 24-hour shifts (includes sleep-in) per month on a rolling rota pattern, 2 shifts one week, 3 shifts the next week.
