Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team in Wigan. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in assessing the needs of children and young people with disabilities, understanding whether they require specialist intervention or can access mainstream activities.

Your main duties will include:

  • Assessing the needs of children and young people who have disabilities, ensuring their needs are met by all who care for and work with them.
  • Care planning; Child in Need, Child Protection and Children Looked After, to ensure children and young people are having their needs met.
  • Undertaking visits to children and young people at home, school, and within the community, using suitable methods to communicate effectively.
  • Multi-agency working with health, education, and other colleagues to ensure the needs of children and young people are being met.

What You Will Need

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • At least 1 year post-qualifying experience as a social worker.
  • Knowledge of social work statutory requirements and legislation.
  • An innovative, confident, and energetic approach to supporting families and achieving positive changes.
