Service Care Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Child Welfare Specialist to join our team in Wigan. This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £27.50, depending on experience.

About the Role

This position involves conducting initial assessments to identify the needs of children and young people, initiating care proceedings where necessary, and developing effective care plans. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working within a duty service and be able to start a new contract within four weeks.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conducting Initial Assessments to inform care planning and decision-making
  • Initiating Care Proceedings in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Undertaking assessments under the Single Assessment Framework to inform care planning and decision-making
  • Developing and implementing effective care plans, including signposting services as required
  • Producing Section 17 reports to inform local authority decisions
  • Preparing Initial Court Statements to present in court proceedings
  • Responding to emergency situations, including visits to vulnerable individuals
  • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to meet statutory deadlines and respond to the needs of children, young people, and their support networks
Requirements:
  • A qualified Social Worker with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Holding a full enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
