Job Description

At Gray Healthcare, we are seeking a dedicated Autism Support Specialist to join our team in Shrewsbury. This role involves supporting an individual with autism and learning disabilities who lives independently in their own home.

About the Role

This is a 36 hour contract, with three 12 hour shifts per week during the day. The successful candidate will be required to have a full UK driving license, as they will be using a mobility vehicle to access the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the individual with daily living tasks, such as household chores and meal preparation
  • Encouraging independence and promoting engagement in activities that bring joy and fulfillment
  • Implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments to ensure the individual's safety and well-being
  • Providing emotional support and stability to help manage challenging behaviors
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support
Requirements
  • Full UK driving license
  • Social care experience, ideally within autism and non-verbal individuals
  • Experience providing encouragement and support to individuals with complex health needs and learning disabilities
  • Current Right to Work in the UK and at least 6 months of employment in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
