Child Welfare Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Child Welfare Specialist to join our committed team working towards making a lasting impact on childrens welfare and development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for collaborating with families, conducting assessments, and developing SMART plans to ensure childrens welfare and reduce risks.
The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification in social work, registration with the relevant professional body, and substantial experience in working with children and young people. You will also possess up-to-date knowledge of child care law, statutory guidance, and safeguarding practices.
About the Role
As a Child Welfare Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with families, respecting their rights, and working in partnership to identify strengths and support their needs.
• Conducting assessments to determine the level of risk and developing SMART plans to ensure childrens welfare and reduce risks.
• Facilitating multi-agency meetings and child protection investigations when necessary, ensuring childrens voices are central to planning.
• Working with legal services, family courts, and other agencies to manage legal proceedings and care planning for children when staying with their families is not possible.
• Prioritising childrens health, development, education, and training needs, preparing them for independence.
• Maintaining accurate records, case files, and reports in line with organisational standards.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• A professional qualification in social work and registration with the relevant professional body.
• Substantial experience in working with children and young people, ideally in a statutory setting.
• Up-to-date knowledge of child care law, statutory guidance, and safeguarding practices.
• Excellent communication and partnership-working skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
• IT literacy and the ability to manage data effectively.
