About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to provide support on our chemicals site in North West England.

This role is responsible for promoting and supporting workplace safety, ensuring compliance with site SHE regulations, and working closely with project contract personnel to deliver successful projects.

The successful candidate will have a degree in mechanical engineering, along with at least 5 years' experience working within the chemical/petrochemical industry in a plant installation or design engineering role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Actively promote and support workplace safety
  • Comply with all site SHE regulations
  • Work closely with project contract personnel to ensure successful project delivery
  • Provide mechanical engineering expertise for the successful implementation and completion of projects
  • Prepare detail design packages for mechanical/structural/civil and Building Services works
  • Design to approved procedures to minimize potential for major process accident hazards
  • Provide input to the procurement process by obtaining price quotations for project works and advising on contractor selection
  • Supervise contract staff carrying out site installation works, including issuing of Permits
  • Liaise with site maintenance and process personnel to ensure project takes account of operation, maintenance, and energy efficiency requirements
  • Provide problem-solving support to Project, Operations, and Maintenance Teams as required
  • Deliver mechanical Capex/Decom Projects in support of EP Site Capital Plan from concept through to commissioning and handover
  • Support the on-going Knowledge Management, Quality Improvement, and cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) programmes
  • Manage mechanical design resource and projects mechanical contractor, plus coordinate site embedded mechanical project contractors
  • Support the development of staff through relevant personal assessments and development of technical competencies, and promotion of teamwork within and between teams
