At Environmental Standards Scotland, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Principal Investigation Officer. This position is critical to the work of our organisation, which is focused on ensuring Scotland achieves the highest environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of Department in relation to all investigations and compliance matters. This will include monitoring workload pressures and resources within the Investigations, Standards and Compliance team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, networking, and team-working skills, with experience of allocating work to match resources. They will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clear flow of information to senior leaders and accurate recording of decisions.

We are looking for an individual who can develop and maintain the implementation of ESS investigations and compliance procedures, ensuring they are robust, fair, and transparent. The successful candidate will also quality assure the work of the ISC team, engaging effectively with public authorities to resolve matters of environmental concern.

This role requires the ability to build effective relationships with a range of individuals and organisations involved in the development of environmental policy and regulations in Scotland. The successful candidate will need to set and maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of ESS investigations and compliance procedures.

About the Role

This is a key role within the Investigations, Standards and Compliance team, working closely with colleagues across ESS to support the development of effective and efficient processes and systems within the organisation.

The successful candidate will be part of a small multidisciplinary team, working on some of the most significant and meaningful environmental challenges facing us today.
