About the Role

Barnardo's is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Care to join our team at High Close School. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care provision to our young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the care provision at High Close School, working closely with the Head of Care to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting our young people.
  • Manage and develop a team of staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver exceptional care.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families and carers, ensuring they are fully involved in their child's care and education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the safety and well-being of our young people.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams, including education and therapy, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting our young people.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience working in a residential special school setting or similar environment.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, carers, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Experience of managing Child Protection and Safeguarding concerns, with the ability to complete the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead duties.
