Laboratory Associate Practitioner

Job Summary
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Laboratory Associate Practitioner to support biomedical scientists in the day-to-day activities of the laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests according to protocol, interpreting routine results, and acting accordingly within agreed protocols.
Main Duties
The Blood Sciences service is provided on a 24/7 basis with out-of-hours cover delivered via shift patterns according to the urgency and volume of the work. The successful candidate will receive samples into the laboratory, ensuring compliance with minimum acceptance criteria, and deal with discrepancies where appropriate.
About the Role
The Trust has an ambition to deliver outstanding hospital and health services to half a million people. As a Laboratory Associate Practitioner, you will be part of a team that provides a comprehensive Blood Sciences service to North Cumbria Hospitals and primary care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing samples for analysis, performing daily analyser start-up procedures, and loading and operating general laboratory equipment as required under supervision. They will also be expected to supervise and train support staff.
