About the Role

As an Associate Practitioner in Blood Sciences, you will play a vital role in supporting biomedical scientists in the day-to-day activities of the laboratory. Your responsibilities will include performing laboratory tests according to protocol, interpreting routine results, and acting accordingly within agreed protocols. You will also supervise and train support staff, ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Main Duties

Provision of a comprehensive Blood Sciences service to North Cumbria Hospitals and primary care is a key aspect of this role. You will be responsible for receiving samples into the laboratory, ensuring compliance with minimum acceptance criteria, and dealing with discrepancies where appropriate. You will also prepare samples for analysis, perform daily analyser start-up procedures, and load and operate general laboratory equipment as required under supervision.
