About the Role

As a Protective Security Inspector, you will be part of a team responsible for regulating security across the civil nuclear industry, ensuring dutyholders are compliant with relevant legislation and that operations are safe and secure.

  • Working in a team of nuclear security inspectors, you will deliver effective and efficient regulation across the UK's civil nuclear industry.
  • You will undertake the assessment of dutyholder security plans and arrangements to ensure they are capable of adequately managing security risks.
  • Compliance inspections of dutyholder arrangements and facilities will also be undertaken to ensure risks are being effectively managed and that dutyholders are meeting their legal obligations.
  • Engagement with senior stakeholders across the nuclear industry will be key to this role.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking compliance inspections and assessments of dutyholder security plans and arrangements.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders across the nuclear industry to promote regulatory outcomes.
  • Identifying trends and intelligence of operational significance.
  • Providing expert advice on security risk management and physical protection systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good honours degree in a security subject or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution such as the Security Institute or ability to demonstrate performance and/or experience at an equivalent professional level.
  • Evidence of significant experience as a protective security practitioner.
  • A good knowledge of security risk management and experience in a management or assurance role in the nuclear or other high hazard industry.
  • An expert level of knowledge of physical protection systems and two of the following: personnel security, policing and guarding, emergency preparedness and response.
