Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Rotational Therapy Assistant. As a key member of our therapy team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our therapists in providing exceptional services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist therapists in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of therapy techniques, including access visits and stair assessments.
  • Undertake patient treatments as delegated by the therapist, following a treatment plan, and provide feedback on reactions and progress.
  • Treat patients individually or in groups with direct or indirect supervision in various settings, including wards, gyms, and clinics.
  • Assist therapists with the moving and handling of complex, high-risk patients in preparation for and during treatment sessions, according to patient risk assessments.
  • Instruct patients and carers on treatment programs and provide guidance on progression and health promotion.
  • Encourage patients and their carers to adopt an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence, requiring empathy, sensitivity, and effective communication skills.
  • Make accurate records of patient contacts and maintain monthly statistics as required, in line with Trust, CSP, and service standards.
  • Document treatment undertaken in MDT records.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Good general education (to GCSE or equivalent).
  • Theoretical and practical training to NVQ II Level or equivalent experience in communication skills, administrative and task organization, and Health & Safety awareness.

Desirable

  • 5 GCSEs (grades 9-4 or A*, A, B, C) or equivalent level 2 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) or a level 2 apprenticeship, such as the Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
  • Understanding of working with patients in a therapeutic role.

Experience

  • Experience in interacting with the public or patients.
  • Experience in a role that demonstrates communication skills, prioritizing tasks, and an organized, methodical approach to work.
  • Experience of documenting and evidencing learning.

Skills

  • Able to present information in a clear, logical manner in both written and oral formats.
  • Basic keyboard skills.
