We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Support Worker to join our team at Barnardo's DSI service. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support to children and young people with disabilities and their families across the East Riding.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one or two-to-one support to young people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties aged 0-25 years and their families.
- Work in various settings, including the community, in the home, or in schools, providing support during weekends, evenings, and school holidays.
- Engage with young people and families from diverse backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and respect.
- Meet the medical, physical, emotional, and personal needs of young people, including managing behavior and providing personal care as outlined in their care plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, young people, and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
- Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
- First aid and basic life support skills, with a willingness to learn and develop further.
- A comprehensive training package, including first aid, safeguarding, care of medicines, personal and intimate care, behavior intervention training, and other child-specific requirements.
- Quarterly supervision and team training sessions, with opportunities for professional development and growth.
- Mileage reimbursement at 45p per mile and 50p per mile when transporting young people or colleagues.
- Rolled-up annual leave pay and overtime rates for evening and weekend work.
- A supportive and inclusive work environment, with a commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
We offer a range of flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance, including part-time and full-time positions, with opportunities for job sharing and flexible hours.
LocationWe have a need for Support Workers in various locations across the East Riding, including Beverley, Bridlington, Brough, Cottingham, Driffield, Goole, Hornsea, Market Weighton, Pocklington, South Cave, Willerby, and Withernsea.
