Production Editorial Manager

We are seeking an experienced Production Editorial Manager to join our team at Oxford University Press. As a key member of our Content Delivery management team, you will be responsible for managing a team of Senior Production Editors and Production Editors, ensuring that editorial quality standards are met, and planning resources and allocating workload.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage a team of Senior Production Editors and Production Editors.
- Ensure editorial quality standards are met by the team and our suppliers.
- Plan resources and allocate workload.
- Monitor work in progress on all projects managed by the team.
- Work with our Outsourced Services team to manage suppliers and create budgets.
- Implement processes and workflows effectively.
- Support the team and our suppliers by enabling knowledge sharing through training and documented guidelines.
About You
Essential:
- Significant experience of managing production editorial work for educational publishing, including copyediting, proofreading, and other related tasks.
- Significant experience of managing freelancers and suppliers delivering production editorial work for both print and digital products.
- Experience of reviewing, improving, and implementing processes.
- Demonstrated potential to line manage via coaching, mentoring, or leading others (line management experience preferred).
- Excellent technical knowledge of editorial tools used, including complex MS Word style sheets, PDF mark-up, and authoring tools for interactive content.
Desirable:
- Line management experience.
- Understanding of content structures and XML standards.
- Knowledge and experience of the ELT market.
- Working knowledge of Spanish, Italian, Polish, or another foreign language relevant to the ELT market.
- Experience of working in publishing or a similar industry in a relevant role.
- Experience of working in a matrix organisation.
