Job Title: Maintenance Technician

The University of Kent is seeking a skilled and flexible Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day maintenance tasks, including painting, silicone replacement, and furniture repairs across the University campus.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a strong focus on customer service. As a key member of our facilities team, you will provide essential support to students, staff, and visitors, ensuring that our campuses are safe and well-maintained.

About the Role:
  • Act as first line response for defects in residential areas, Kent Sport, and academic buildings.
  • Carry out minor repairs, or removal and replacement of furniture, fittings, and equipment within the accommodation as required.
  • Manage work requests via a mobile device linked to the CAFM (Computer-aided facilities management) database.
Requirements:
  • General education to include English and Maths.
  • Willingness to undertake training to learn new and improve existing skills.
  • Proven basic computer skills, including MS Word, Email, Excel, and MS Teams.
  • Good communication skills, including written and spoken English, as well as demonstrating a full understanding of following instructions.
  • Ability to carry out prolonged physical, manual work / manual handling.

The salary for this position is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a range of benefits, including hybrid working options, 43 days' leave per year, and an excellent pension scheme with generous employer contributions.
