Role Overview

Epic Games is a leading developer of award-winning games and engine technology that empowers creators to build visually stunning experiences.

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Software Developer and Performance Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on analyzing and resolving stability and performance problems in Fortnite across various PC hardware configurations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and resolve stability and performance issues in Fortnite, including device-specific CPU and GPU performance and compatibility problems, rendering performance, and platform toolchain improvements.
  • Monitor stability and performance data from Fortnite releases and enhance Unreal Engine's systems and applications for Fortnite-specific use cases.
  • Collaborate with GPU vendors and other partners to resolve technical issues and improve underlying technologies, such as graphics drivers for Fortnite and Unreal Engine.
  • Assess performance data across various hardware and make improvements to Unreal Engine's rendering systems and their applications in Fortnite-specific use cases.
Requirements
  • Strong C++ knowledge and multi-threaded programming techniques; ability to code and architect various core engine systems.
  • Real-time rendering experience in the games industry or computer graphics industry, including knowledge of at least one graphics API (DirectX 12 preferred) and understanding of modern graphics API architecture.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing a large codebase.
  • Demonstrated ability to reason about and debug large, interacting systems from the macro-level to the micro-level.
  • Experience with OS-level systems, Windows APIs, and common frameworks is a plus.
