This is a unique opportunity for an open source technologist to demonstrate their expertise in Linux desktop, hardware, and software. Canonical is looking for an exceptional technical support specialist to provide engineering solutions to customers adopting Ubuntu and Open Source on desktop.
As a Desktop Support Engineer at Canonical, you will be working with a dedicated set of enterprise customers, applying your knowledge of Linux desktop applications, authentication, and security. You will also utilize your experience with popular open source software and debug Ubuntu Desktop issues to contribute code and help fix them.
- Apply your knowledge of Linux desktop, applications, authentication, and security
- Demonstrate your expertise in TCP/IP, wired & wireless networking on Ubuntu Desktop and Server
- Act as the technical authority and utilise your experience with popular open source software
- Provide advice on deployed architecture and implementing solutions for complex problems
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Open source experience
- Professional support experience with Linux desktop (preferably Ubuntu or other Debian-based distros)
- Familiarity with PC and/or laptop hardware as well as SBCs e.g. Raspberry Pi
- Familiarity with Debian or Snap packaging
- Experience with GNOME, GTK, Python, or C
- Ability to speak English fluently
- Excellent communication skills and extensive experience in customer-facing positions
