Salary: £26,530 - £29,114 per year (pro rata if part-time)

Job Description: As a Pregnancy Tobacco Cessation Practitioner, you will work closely with the Lead Midwife for Treating Tobacco Dependence and other key members of the maternity team to deliver evidence-based behavioural support and treatment to pregnant women who are tobacco dependent. You will use interventions such as Carbon Monoxide monitoring and Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help women quit smoking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educate individuals about the risks of smoking in pregnancy
  • Promote smoke-free homes and cars
  • Conduct pre-booking telephone calls with all individuals who have self-reported themselves as smokers upon referral to maternity services
  • Develop personalised treatment plans for pregnant women who are tobacco dependent
  • Use the Maternity Information System to provide real-time feedback to referring professionals
  • Ensure confidentiality and comply with Information Governance policies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • GCSE level English and Mathematics or equivalent qualification/experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in health-related studies or substantial successful experience delivering stop-smoking interventions and support
  • Experience of providing help, support, and/or counselling on a one-to-one basis or as part of a group setting
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
