Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Governance Officer to join our newly established Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) NY team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Universities of Hull and York to develop the research culture of North Yorkshire County Council and build partnerships to conduct and use research on the health and wellbeing issues that matter to communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement research governance systems and processes to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  2. Provide advice and guidance to staff on research governance-related matters and ensure that all research activity within the Council meets the required standards.
  3. Collaborate with the NYC Involvement and Governance Team, the NYC Data Governance Team, and other stakeholders to ensure effective research governance.
  4. Develop and maintain systems and information for analysis and evaluation of research activity within the Council.
  5. Provide reports and present research activity to stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of research and/or governance and relevant legal and ethical requirements.
  2. Ability to develop systems and approaches to support organisational development around research governance.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Experience in identifying and using a range of data types to produce reports and perform basic analysis.
