About the Role

As a Youth Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in creating a secure and supportive environment for young people to grow and thrive. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to helping residents reach their goals and prepare for successful reentry into the community.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing direct care to residents in a secure correctional setting, ensuring orderly facility operations and maintaining the safety of residents, visitors, and staff. You will implement best practices in supervision, security, and treatment to provide a safe living environment conducive to growth and change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing effective supervision and security measures to ensure resident safety and well-being;
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation, including incident reports, logbook entries, and administrative forms;
  • Collaborating with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized plans for residents; and
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to residents to help them achieve their personal learning goals.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with at-risk youth or in a related field;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; and
  • Familiarity with Positive Youth Development principles and practices.
