Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the attendance team, ensuring attendance targets are met, and collaborating with senior leaders to develop and implement attendance and punctuality policies. Key duties will include:

  • Line managing attendance officers and ensuring the smooth operation of the computerised registration system
  • Monitoring student attendance and progress, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to address attendance concerns
  • Collaborating with the Educational Welfare Officer to ensure prompt, consistent, and rigorous intervention on poor attendance
  • Communicating with parents and carers to address attendance issues and provide support
  • Preparing and distributing attendance and punctuality certificates
  • Attending meetings with faculty directors and other stakeholders to discuss attendance and student progress

Requirements and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with:

  • Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft software and management information systems
  • Experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures, as well as the range of agencies that work with students and their families
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and a range of attendance codes
  • Experience of managing attendance systems and working with young people, including those with challenging behaviour
